ESI Records Orders for Inspection Systems Exceeding $1 Million

„PORTLAND, Ore.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–May 7, 2002–Electro Scientific Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq:ESIO – news) today announced multiple orders from UST Technology for back-end semiconductor inspection equipment.\r\n

\r\nDelivery will be completed during ESI’s fourth fiscal quarter, which ends June 1, 2002.\r\n
\r\n\r\n
\r\nBased in Singapore, UST Technology is an exclusive distributor of ESI’s test and inspection equipment for the back-end semiconductor market. The orders will be delivered to three large packaging customers in SE Asia within the next 30 days.\r\n

The systems perform both mark and lead inspection of devices to ensure that the devices have not been damaged in the packaging process. Mark inspection also assures that devices are accurately and legibly marked with the manufacturers name and lot.\r\n
