SCHNEIDER KREUZNACH INTRODUCES BANDPASS FILTERS TO IMPROVE IMAGE QUALITY IN MACHINE VISION SYSTEMS
Schneider’s new Bandpass filters enhance the image contrast capabilities of vision systems that use advanced LED lighting. The filters attach to CCD or CMOS camera lenses, and allow light of their specified transmission wavelength (the "pass band") to pass through, while blocking any light wavelengths shorter or longer than the pass band. By matching the respective pass band of the filter with the emission wavelength of the lighting source, vision system operators can significantly reduce noise from ambient light, to optimize the image contrast of the vision system.
Schneider Bandpass filters cover wavelengths from 565 nm to 680 nm, with bandwidths between 50 nm and 140 nm. Their special interference coatings, based on a proprietary multiple thin layer system, maximize light intensity by allowing greater than 90 percent light transmission, while their superior-quality optical glass surfaces facilitate the optimal performance and accuracy of the high-quality lenses used in high-resolution megapixel applications. Schneider Bandpass filters are available in all common thread sizes, for quick and easy attachment to all types of lenses.
"Choosing the right optical filter for a high quality vision system is crucial for maximum performance," said Dirk Muschert, Director of Marketing of Jos. Schneider Optische Werke GmbH. "While extending our industrial filter line, these new Bandpass filters give system designers using advanced LED lighting a new, powerful choice when seeking to maximize the performance of their machine vision systems.’
