\r\nAUSTIN, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Jan. 7, 2004– Editors of Test & Measurement World recently recognized two new National Instruments (Nasdaq:NATI – News) technologies in their Best in Test 2004 competition, naming the NI CVS-1454 Compact Vision System a Best in Test winner and finalist for Test Product of the Year 2004, and the NI 100 MS/s Mixed-Signal Test Platform an honorable mention recipient.

\r\nThe NI Compact Vision System outperforms the combined efforts of several smart cameras by offering multiple IEEE 1394 camera ports and a powerful processor. With more than 60 industrial IEEE 1394 cameras available, engineers can complete their application with a wide variety of camera types, including high-speed, high-resolution, infrared or linescan. Engineers also can use the NI Compact Vision System with NI Vision Builder for Automated Inspection software to create highly customized applications without programming. In addition, engineers can take advantage of the NI Compact Vision System integrated I/O architecture, which offers 15 digital input lines, 14 digital output lines, VGA video output and RS-232 and Ethernet connectivity for distributed machine vision applications.

\r\nIn naming the NI 100 MS/s mixed-signal test platform a Best in Test 2004 honorable mention recipient, judges noted the platform’s varied uses in applications ranging from embedded systems to wireless products and automotive electronics. The PXI-based mixed-signal suite includes a 100 MS/s, 14-bit high-resolution digitizer, 100 MHz and 50 MHz digital waveform generator/analyzers and a 100 MS/s, 16-bit arbitrary waveform generator — all built on a common hardware architecture. Engineers and scientists can use the mixed-signal platform with LabVIEW 7 Express to increase flexibility and system performance for rapid prototyping and testing of analog, digital or mixed-signal devices.

\r\nNominations for the Best in Test competition came from both manufacturers and users of products introduced between Nov. 1, 2002, and Oct. 31, 2003, and also included products Test & Measurement World editors had seen or written about during that time. The magazine publishes its list of Best in Test finalists in December and asks readers to vote for the Test Product of the Year. Readers must return ballots by Feb. 10 and results will be announced at the APEX tradeshow on Feb. 24 in Anaheim, Calif.
