Cognex Surface Inspection System Chosen by Leading Asian Steel Producer

„The Cognex SmartView system will be used to inspect pickled steel for defects such as edge cracks and folds, holes, and scratches, before it reaches the cold rolling process. Undetected edge defects and holes are a primary cause of strip-breaks during the cold rolling process.\r\n
\r\n
\r\n\“Siam United Steel chose SmartView due to its advanced ability to reliably detect defects in the edge areas,\“ said Markku Jaaskelainen, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cognex’s Surface Inspection Systems Division. \“Unlike our competitors‘ systems, SmartView is able to inspect the entire strip without any blind spots, and SmartView can send signals…in real time… to warn the downstream process. These advantages help Cognex customers avoid strip breaks, ensure product quality, and reduce down time on their production lines.\“\r\n
\r\n
\r\nThe Cognex SmartView system is a state-of-the-art surface inspection system that is used to automatically detect, classify, and display defects in metal and other materials as they are being produced. Cognex has sold over 350 SmartView systems since its release in February 2000, making it the most successful product launch in the history of surface inspection systems.\r\n
